NOTD – ‘Cardinal’ French tips

Hi everyone 🙂

While going over one of my favourite gossip sites, I came across this picture of a gorgeous Korean celeb with fabulous nails. I found out her name is Yoon Eun Hye, and I tried to replicate her red french tips using Cardinal by Nivea- a red creme I don’t use very often that has just the right opacity to do the job.

I think the look looks much better on her nails, but I had fun wearing them!

I freehanded the tips so they’re not the best- Also True Blood was on and I was SO absorbed with the TV that I didn’t notice my top coat dragging some of the red off, hence the red streak on my pinky… oops

Also, all of you fellow nail fanatics *must* check out Sophy Robsons blog! She is a celebrity manicurist in England who designs the most utterly fab looks for magazines and runways, her blog is full of inspiration! I came across it while looking for good polish retailers in the UK for when I travel in August, and I ended up spending ages looking at all the gorgeous ideas. After I tried this mani I saw her post about Sharon Stone in Casino where she sports red tips too, and I can’t wait to try the candy pink nails with red tips inspired by Sharon Tate in Valley of the Dolls. Enjoy!

NOTD: Miami Beet

My favourite salon stocks OPI products, and the last time I was there I noticed the South Beach Collection display sitting on the counter beckoning me. I usually never buy products from my salon except solar oil- but now that I was taking care of my nails at home instead of my usual salon manis, I picked up a bottle of Miami Beet and got my toes done in Conga-Line Coral while I was there.

Conga-Line Coral was a disappointment, but Miami Beet- Love!

After I bought it I was worried I got yet another overdone maroon creme, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised- the name does not lie, it really is a beautiful shade of beetroot red, and a dream to apply but a NIGHTMARE to photograph, my camera just cannot capture anything slightly reddish! It’s so much darker and richer and real life.

You know it’s a good colour for you when you can’t stop yourself from looking at your nails every 5 minutes!

I know, I know- again with my raggedy cuticles. I’m having so much trouble taking care of them, they have a life of their own!
