Welcome to Pixels & Polish!
I started this blog in order to have my own little corner of the internet to discuss all things nail related. As of June ’09, I have begun taking care of my nails, giving myself regular manicures, testing out products and just having fun!
I’m just a regular university student in my 20’s with way too many hobbies, interests and obsessions than is considered healthy. I have so many interests, in fact, that settling on nail/cosmetics blogging was a really tough decision. Some of my other interests are baking, crafting, reading anything I can get my hands on, and anything related to gaming/technology. See what I mean? I’m also an avid Star Trek (Original series only, if you please), Star Wars, Harry Potter and Legend of Zelda fan. Which brings us to…
Why “Pixels & Polish”?
Oh dear. The amount of time I spent trying to come up with a name for this blog is quite embarrassing. I went through so many ideas, and strongly considered the name “Lacquer and Lace”- I could visualize the gorgeous soft colours and Marie Antoinette-influenced theme I would use. Then I realized that the name did not suit me at all, it didn’t capture my deep rooted geekiness and interests! After all, a girl whose quest in life is to find the perfect “Spock blue” nail polish, and who is more likely to chip a nail on a Nintendo DS than something more frou-frou could not post under “lacquer and lace”! It just could not be done 🙂
What to expect from Pixels & Polish:
As a beginner in the crazy world of polishes, pedicures and pumice stones you can be sure that everything I post involves what I am learning along the way. Unfortunately, I don’t live in the U.S. so getting my hands on the latest and greatest collections is not very easy for me. But expect to see a lot of tutorials, nail art ideas, spotlights on favourite products & celebrities as well as (hopefully) down-to-earth advice on what works for me.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy posting in it 🙂 I love hearing from people, so don’t hesitate to leave a comment or drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org
